Case
Study
Pioneer were contacted by a national quarry provider, looking to improve the efficiency and cost of their existing pump solution. We were able to provide a high flow electric driven pumpset to replace their existing three diesel pumps, improving their running costs, environmental impact, and giving them greater control and flexibility.
The Requirements
Our customer was looking to review their existing pump solution on one of their lagoons. Their existing setup of three diesel pumpsets was costly and unreliable, so they were looking for a long term solution which would be economical as well as being robust enough to stay situated at the edge of the lagoon, on rough terrain, and able to handle the high volumes of water needed to keep the quarry running.
The Method
Pioneer conducted a thorough in person site visit, and our knowledable sales team ascertained the required flow to keep the water moving around the lagoon, as well as a detailed run down of the terrain challenges of the site.
We provided one 200CM electric pumpset, which was able to achieve the same flow as the customers existing three diesel pumpsets. The pump was supplied with a VFD, allowing the customer greater flexibility as they could then reduce the flow if only part of the site needed to be supplied.
The new pump solution also proved to be more economical for the customer, as based on a diesel cost of £1.20 per Litre and Electric cost of £0.26 per kW, the new pump set up would save the customer around £11,000 per year.
The Results
Pioneer were able to provide the customer with a streamlined, long-term solution that met every requirement and even exceeded initial expectations. By carrying out a detailed site survey, our team was able to assess operational challenges, environmental factors, and potential future growth needs.
The result was a bespoke pumping solution that not only addressed the customer’s immediate requirements but also offered scalability and adaptability as conditions change over time. The system combines reliability, efficiency, and flexibility, giving the customer confidence that their operations are supported by a robust and cost-effective setup designed to perform well both now and in the future.
